i'm not sure how many here have seen the original story, or all that's happened since. i check the news for updates on this girl. i hope that she is able to recover from this attack, and live a full life, and will be able to continue her fight.

thousand and thousands marched over the weekend, outraged at the shooting of this young girl. maybe this will be the catalyst to get pakistan moving more towards fighting the taliban, rather than continuing to try to sit on the fence.

malala is now in the uk. doctors are hopeful that she will make a full recovery. she is able to move her extremities; she was removed from a ventilator from what i read, but they did choose to put her back on it.

That was tried with Benazir Bhutto. Didn't turn out so well, unfortunately.

You're right but that's more of a reason to fight on. All great civil rights movements occurring in the U.S. were not started by people outside of the group pursuing their civil right but by the group itself. Imagine if blacks had called it quits following MLK's assassination?

I've said before that I believe the only way to take the extreme out of extreme Muslimism is to empower the Muslim women.

Malala and her father could become a Rosa Parks moment in that movement.

with enough benizirs and malala's, things will get better. the majority wants peace and freedom. seeing that tens of thousands protested this wknd about malala's shooting gives me hope that pakistan will straighten themselves out.

Of course the majority want peace and freedom. I would think that is common to all cultures.

Maybe Malala's case will bring about "enough is enough" mentality from the majority who want peace.
