I think the only one who could beat Awesome Gem is Hudson Landing but I've decided to stay away from this race in terms of playing it.

Awesome Gem, Assessment, Gallant Son... I would need surgery to rid myself of sentiment so yeah forget it but good luck to you all who are playing and come home safe all.

I just love this race every single year... maybe they're not all monsters but it's always a fun field and the day racing stops being fun is the day I say goodbye to it.

Awesome Gem got trapped behind a slow pace , got locked in and never got a chance to run until very late and charged up for 3rd. It was only natural that things would go right for Mario and he did something that Gary Stevens didn't. He became first jockey to win the Derby and Mile in the same year.

Never forget when Gary finally won his Mile, aboard Louie Cyphre.

The Mile is my favorite race of the year being from Seattle, so much history and pride for us up here.

Excited for Mike Puhich and also the owner Glen Todd is a massive supporter of racing in the NW, especially up at Hastings, but he will send horses to Emd and PM as well.

Awesome Gem looked really good there at the end but I hate doing the shoulda thing, you know?

Is he over the $3M make now?

Fun race as it is every year and even the silly drf online coverage was good!

I love the way it's so festive and just the little touches like a guest steward (the guy looked thrilled to death, didn't he? I'm sure he's someone where I should know the name but didn't)... it is just like the most joyful looking place, track, experience.

Congrats to he winner and did you guys see the jockey of the 2nd place finisher? I mean that was wonderful how happy he looked.

I know I'll be laughed at but ummm what day is the special guest thing with Wasserman cause I need to beg someone to go and get a picture or pet him for me or something (don't judge me)!

They should let Assessment be there as well regardless of how he did yesterday.

I am surprised not more is being discussed with Flores's ride on Awesome Gem, he was by far the best horse in the race its a damn shame he didnt win. With a better trip he wins by a length going away, with a clean trip he wins by 2-3. Flores should of swung wide instead of getting too cute with saving too much ground. He was sitting on the best horse and the horse with most run.
