I still like Rumsfeld. He is an incredibly bright guy that has succeeded in everything he has done in his life. But as smart and successful as he has been, he was obviously was not getting the job done on Iraq. And it's not like he hasn't had enough time. He's had plenty of time and his approach does not seem to be working. I can't say for sure that a new approach will be any better but it's certainly worth a try.
Rupert,
I'm not debating with you, just agreeing.
"We obviously need a new approach in Iraq". Correct. Perhaps the voters sent a message about this on Tuesday.
"You don't want to be stubborn and keep doing the same thing." My guess is that "stay the course" is no longer an intelligent option.
Rumsfeld...an incredibly bright guy? HMMM...I disagree.
"Successful as he has been"? Explain that one.
It's nice to see that your head isn't stuck in the quagmire.
The blood isn't on your hands, Rupert. My guess is that lots of soap and warm water won't be able to wash it off, but we'll see.
Gates still has to get through the new senate for approval.
We'll see on that one too.
Where's Harriet Miers when we really need her?
