When I worked in Manhattan I had friends that shared a 450sq/ft apartment for too much money, way uptown (uptown = bad) just to not have to cross any bridge/tunnel to get home.

yeah, we lived near d.c. for years. glad to be away from all the people, traffic, and mostly, away from the expense. it's outrageous.

DC is the worst and my work has had me in NYC for a few years, I routinely travel to the Bay area and Atlanta.

I laugh very hard at people here that complain about traffic. Going 40MPH on an inbound highway during rush hour is not traffic I tell them, especially when it lasts for about 4 miles at that pace.
