drones already taking out us citizens overseas. when does the leap get made to doing that here?. security cameras, which many are against, are located in a designated area. they aren't moveable, they can't hover over someone's backyard, etc. drones can go any-everywhere. you don't have an expectation of privacy in the middle of downtown manhattan-but i would think there is a line, a slippery slope argument to be made.
the powers that be will continuously push a bit here or there, it's why i had that signature line quoting james madison...that our rights will be gradually chipped away, a little here, a little there, a bit at a time.

That's fine, but what also about the FAA approval of local police, state, etc. flying drones? It's not even just the federal government! Your local town Barney Fyfe can have a drone.

PS: why was this approved? Follow the money, and the lobbyists, from the defense and aerospace industries darting about Capital Hill and getting this approved since 2001. Hell, we went to war in Iraq partially so Halliburton could make billions from government contracts. "Sell every police department a drone" is just more of the same - and "justified by terrorist and homeland security concerns, fellow Americans - don't worry about a thing".

Honestly, who gives a s.hit? Everyone has a freakin video cameras on them now anyway. People stop and film crimes as soon as things go down. They'll watch people get beat up instead of calling help or trying to break stuff up. Hell, even the criminals film themselves breaking the law. The footage will be out there drones or not.

The whole world is quickly spiraling down the toliet.

You are pretty frigging amazing yourself for what you don't know. You - and Danzig - don't realize that as you walk down a street in New York or Washington or Chicago, police can see you, target and zoom in on you, live in real time, and follow you around?

It's not just "security" cameras rolling without active monitoring. It's manned, deliberate observation.

There is no difference from a camera filming you in a public place from a drone, or from the moveable, pan-tilt-zoom camera on the street corner and buildings that your city uses to monitor people in real time.

Yes - our rights have been chipped away for many years now with this type of observation in "public" space. Glad to see you guys jumping on the bandwagon that some of us have been fighting for years.
