They would have them all of the time.

Spend A Buck paid like $6 to win the Derby at Delaware Park and like triple that at Pleasanton.

In this instance ... only $2 was bet on the horse at Aksar-ben and they scooped an entire win pool on a race that was being simulcasted from the Fair Grounds.
I remember when they had separate pools at Turf Paradise, when they were only allowed to simulcast 2-3 races per day, and people would always say "man it always pays more in CA, players are just sharper here", and these were everyday regulars, yet they were so blinded to the fact the win takeout was 22% here and 15% over there.

Turf Paradise would be quick to pull down the video feed of all the prices because it would make people mad.

That's awesome! I can see it.

I worked at McDuffy's for Turf Paradise in 92/93 while going to school.

Horse and Hound was at Guadalupe and Rural I think, I went in there once and while.

The OTB's are disappearing here, I see Dirty Drummer is now gone, so is North Star near my office. Combine that with the draconian internet betting laws I gotta think TuP could be in serious trouble soon.

Seperate pools generated my best day ever. We had them in Canada for a long time.
Feb 14, 2004 race 5 a horse named Heathrow brought in a Triactor as a 32-1 shot and the tri paid $6700 for $2 at the track. We brought down a "Flasher", the only ticket in the Canadian pool, paid $27,000 for $1.
Still makes the hair stand up on my neck!

there was a $430+ winner at Hollywood Park in the early 90's! I know because i wasnt legal to bet to my mom went to the window and disregarded my $2wps and only bought a showticket on the horse which paid $19. I was livid! Horse might have been named Family Fling.

McDuffy's

I was there when it opened in '89. Spent many a day watching March Madness, NBA playoffs, NFL etc. They even bought Wrestlemania on PPV in '90 that was broadcast from the Pontiac Silverdome. Luckily I graduated before they installed the OTB. Not to say that Phx Greyhound Park didn't have some of my business. A kid in the dorm went every night and each race he played a 1,2,8 exacta box. No matter what! There was a 2 week stretch where he had an uncanny run. Thanks for taking me back to a terrific time!

Yea I know Strawberry, she was gone when I started and Rose took over.

I also worked with Pam at Grace Inn, who sadly passed away a couple years back, great person, avid better.

I practically lived at McDuffy's because I was 19 but since TuP put me in a bar everyone there assumed I was 21 so I could drink and hang out, plus at that time it was probably the busiest campus bar around.

Horse and Hound must have moved at some point after I left for Kentucky.
