from what i saw in the paper the other day, there's a very good chance of a split. good to see! they had also announced purse increases, another good sign.

The Risen Star at Fair Grounds was split in divisions twice, in '93 and '95.

The Fountain Of Youth at Gulfstream was split in divisions twice between '86-'93.

The Gotham at Aqueduct was split 3 times between '74-'84.

The Hollywood Derby was split nearly every year in the '80s, and again in '91.

It was also split in 1989, when one of the divisions was won by the very good Dispersal.

Tejano Run struggled with the slop in one of the 1995 divisions. For added excitement, Concern had a public work that afternoon with Jerry Bailey aboard. Soon after, Concern's trainer switched to Mike Smith to ride Concern. I'm sure Bailey was crushed that he had to console himself with Cigar.

How is it they can get 21 for a derby prep and we wind up with 6 horse fields at Gulfstream and New York?

In the 90s... The Lake George at Saratoga was split numerous times as was The Lake Placid(when it was run as the Nijana). The Jaipur was split a couple times too..

The funniest part is the San Vicente which pays 150k at 7F has 5 probables. Creative Cause and nothing

O well at least horse will have to prove they belong instead of just beating nothing. Plus least we will have 2 good betting races instead of a Grade 3 with 5 runners and 2 Allowance races with 6 like Gulfstream
