REPRICED-24

Darby Dan Stallion Repriced Dies
By Blood-Horse Staff

Repriced, one of the last remaining sons of Roberto, died Jan. 27, at Darby Dan Farm near Lexington from an apparent heart attack. He was 24.

“It’s the real end of an era with the passing of Repriced,” said Darby Dan owner John Phillips. “He represented a connection to the golden era of American stallions. It’s well known that my grandfather, John W. Galbreath, named Roberto (a major winner and sire) for the great Pittsburgh Pirates’ right fielder, Roberto Clemente. Both Robertos were exceptional in their fields, and Repriced was a wonderful link to those great years. Though Repriced was largely retired, we are all sad not to see him enjoying his time in his paddock.”

Bred and owned by Leonard Lavin’s Glen Hill Stable, Repriced won a division of the 1991 Oceanside Stakes on grass and placed in four stakes including the El Rincon Handicap (gr. IIT) the following year. He retired with a record of 5-6-2 from 21 (Clemente’s uniform number) starts and earned $288,412.

A Florida-bred, Repriced was from one of Glen Hill’s best female families. Out of the Quack mare Feature Price, Repriced was a full brother to English group winner Undercut and a half brother to graded winners Gray Cashmere and Top Rung.

Repriced, who stood at Mare Haven Farm near Lexington before standing at Darby Dan starting in 2001, has sired 35 stakes horses and the earners of more than $11.9 million. His 20 stakes winners include graded winners Capital Request, Closeout, No Inflation, Rich in Spirit, and Spruce Run.

When she shocked everyone and won it wasn't because she wasn't good... this was her 5th win in a row... but rather because of the field which was in a word amazing.

Here are the final 400 meters of Sleepless Night winning the Sprinters Stakes.

Sorry for the terrible sound...
