I have no idea what the criteria is as far as needing to run classic distance. I would say Caleb's Posse.

I agree with this. 10-5-1-1. Two G1's, a G2 and a G3, wins from 6F to 1 1/16. In a year where no one stood out, his resume looks better than the rest.

If Uncle No opted to go in the Mile where he had more of a shot to win, then he could be in the running for it

If you believe that then Caleb's Posse should be a lock.

I think that Repole would of went on an all out campaign for HOY. I mean HOY doesnt mean best horse of the year, just look at what happened to Blame last year

I remember a movie some years ago, I think it was "Brewster's Millions" and Richard Pryor was trying to convince people that none of the guys running for president were good enough so he started a campaign telling people to chose "none of the above". I think that would fit horse racing this year. If pressed, I think I'd lean towards Havre de Grace but I find myself increasingly considering Game on Dude.

Anyone have any opinion on 2-y-o male eclipse?
I would say that Union Rags still wins it based on his resume. |

The Dirt Mile is better then some of the new races, but it has a bad effect on the older ones. It needs to go.... Those horses should be stretching out in the Classic or cuting back for the sprint.

After last year I'm confused as to the criteria for winning HOY. Is it based on a popularity contest, winning the most money, winning the most races, being the most competitive? I'm lost, I have no idea.
Rapid Redux has been the most consistent winner all year by far. He now has the opportunity to break PP and Zen's record of 19 straight wins. Because of the level he competes at he could never win more money than most G1 winners. He's becoming more popular but not like the freight train of Zen's popularity. Rapid Redux is too blue collar to win HOY. If he did win I imagine those 'ole Kentucky folks would have a coronary. |
