Steve,

It is my great pleasure to have met you and been allowed to visit with you occasionally at Saratoga. Your show, the web site, but most importantly, your passion and generousity is not only contagious, but adds volumes to the horse players enjoyment of the sport.

To see how far you have come gives rise to wonder what the next 10 years will bring. We all are around for the ride.

I lift my bourbon to you Sir,

Spyder

I'm still wondering how a nice Jewish guy winds up peddling pork.

He most likely wasn't brainwashed with antiquated dietary restrictions and really enjoys pork, which, btw, is delicious.

Ok this makes sense. So on a scale of 1-10, Steve is probably a Jewish 3 or 4. Not like other Jews that still don't eat pork. They would be like an 8 ,9 or 10 Jewish. These would be the Jews that still believe in the antiquated dietary restriction.

Myself, I'm a Jewish 1. My dad was Jewish and my mom was Catholic. I dropped out of Hebrew School in 4th grade because I hated it and told my mom that I refused to go back. I like Yiddish words and I've eaten Carolina BBQ more than once.

Well, to paraphrase Michael Corleone, "It's not personal, Sonny. It's strictly business." I didn't grow up in a Kosher-keeping home, so I've been a pork-loving yid a long time. In terms of my food business ties, I particularly had been interested in Barbecue as a foodservice item having lived in three great Rib/BBQ areas: Cincinnati ('82-'84), Kansas City ('84-'86), Charlotte ('86-'87). I nearly opened a BBQ joint (to be called "Higby's") in the late '80's when I had to make a decision about my career. It seems I was always destined to have a tie to 'cue somehow...

Spydee..

Too kind. Thank you. Everyone at DT contributes by promoting discussion and fueling mutual interest in the game, and things like the season-long Spa Contest you run adds to that pleasure and experience immensely. Whatever else I may do involving racing going forward, I'm incredibly happy to be doing what I am now. And countless people have a hand in it, and I'm very grateful.
