Wouldn't be as fun. Then we wouldn't have Grade I winners like Wicked Style, Noble's Promise, Dominican, and Monba.

And we could have grade I winners like Wild Syn, Millenium Wind and Sinister Minister. Is there any meaningful difference?

That's not a fair comparison. If you'd like, for instance, I can name you some winners of the Blue Grass Stakes from it's dirt days, which number far greater than it's brief time on poly, which were MUCH better than the three you named.

Millenium Wind, btw, was a much better race horse than those three aforementioned poly winners.

Did you think the pre-Polytrack dirt surface at Keeneland was a "fair" racing surface? To my way of thinking, with its tendency towards a "gold rail" bias, that dirt surface often produced results that seemed as random (and meaningless) as some on the current synthetic strip.

Or Holy Bull, Alydar, Alysheba ( though he was disqualified ), Chief's Crown, Strike the Gold, Summer Squall, Skip Away or Pulpit. And that's ignoring Harlan's Holiday and Peace Rules recently.
