I think perhaps Pat is saying the article was either sarcastic, or tongue in cheek.

Which does make some sense, if you read the article.

Either the writer is a complete moron, or his article is dripping with ironic sarcasm.

The story almost had to be written. But Jerardi is a legend to me, and getting the chance to work with him a few times over the years was a ton of fun. He's sarcastic, witty in a very dry sense, and his attitude towards many things could almost be called sardonic. Knowing THAT Jerardi, combined with this article, and putting his tones behind those words makes it even funnier to me.

If that is what he was saying then I agree but why didn't Pat simply state that the piece was probably satire?

Who really ever knows what goes on inside another persons head?

This article has to be tounge in cheek. No way does anyone who has been around the game for more than 10 racing days believe this trainer is legitimate.

It really is sad that scumbags like this trainer are allowed to completely fleece the other trainers and public on a daily basis and are brazen enough to act like they are just better than everyone else. I could care less overall but just once in my life I would love to see the FBI come down on someone like this. I can't think of someone more deserving of prison.

Sadly, I just don't think this crap hits the radar screen of those that can put bite into this issue. These trainers will be allowed to work their "ice magic" daily at the expense of other less fortunate or honest horseman.

After reading this again I have a hard time saying this article was written tongue in cheek. Please show me a single line that could be construed as such?

I've read Jerardi for years and generally think he's pretty sharp but this is an odd piece. Remember, he may be a tongue in cheek kind of guy to those who know him but he's writing this article not for "insiders" but for the general sports fan in a major newspaper.
It seems odd that he'd put him name on this if it were tongue in cheek, knowing that the huge bulk of his readership (including loyal racing fans and bettors) DON'T know that he's "that type." If I read Indian Charlie, I know what I'm getting but from Jerardi I expect straight dope.

A member of DT just completed a cursory examination of Guerreros barn a few minutes ago and was unable to locate the vaunted ice machine. I guess the machine that bears the magical ice is in a secret location?

If you had the Magical Ice Machine - would you keep it out where any trainer or intruder could get his or her grubby little hands on it!?

Isnt Jerardi on the Parx payroll? He used to do that weekly show with Keith Jones recapping past weeks races and touting upcoming events.

Think I will have to flood the Daily News Live message box next time hes on.

I believe he still does that show, and that show is a product of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Assoc., not Parx itself.
