![]() I think his management of those good horses is what is called into question. While he's won a couple of big stakes here and there, the horses themselves have shown good potential only to fall by the wayside early in their careers. He often jumps the gun and puts horses in over their head, which arguably limits their overall performance in the long run (Nationalore the poster boy for this).

Seems like every couple of years or so, he gets a modestly bred horse to do pretty well, and he's got a relatively small stable. I remember one from about 15 years ago, I think it was by Video Ranger of all horses, that was in my eyes, a legit derby horse. He got hurt and died though, so maybe you are right. That was a real good horse. |

![]() No, it was before Nationalore. He won like 5 of 6 and died right around this time.

![]() Well, he's done a good job with this horse. He took the blinkers off (trying 2 turns,) and the horse romped with an 0 for 65 (or something like that) jock up. I thought he was in too deep against the Factor last time (thought he'd get burned up.) What he did is what he's done in all his races (try very hard.) It was a very nice effort, and you can see that his speed rating went up. I thought he'd get another top 3 in here. Romping by 7 wasn't on my menu. He had a 57 n' change work, and I guess the blinkers off got him back off the front end. See, this horse has always been a tough competitor. He's never run a poor race. It's pretty interesting to see a tough horse improving in the talent department. I would agree that this trainer/owner has been inconsistent in these stakes races. I don't think he's had one as tough as this one though. Yea, Street Hero was talented, but he was also clumsy, awkward, and stupid. I had a horse outbreak Premier Pegasus in the Jack Goodman Stakes. Quinonez had to use Premier Pegasus a little (from the 1 hole) to get to the lead. My horse sat a perfect 2nd. My horse was able to bug him from the outside. I thought sure I was gunna get him. I never got by him, and he was never gunna let my horse by him. He is a tough son bitch.

![]() Baffert thought he had a chance to win the Derby with a horse who's running a 90-92 Beyer? Jaycito is a very funny boy.
