Cupecoy's Joy (f 1979) wasn't exactly chopped liver. Won the Acorn-G1, Mother Goose-G1, led the Kentucky Derby field for a long way until she wore out. Still finished ahead of Wavering Monarch (Haskell-G1) , Cassaleria (El Camino Real-G2), Bold Style (Rebel H) and Royal Roberto (Everglades-G3).
Mr. Right (c 1963) won the Suburban, Woodward, Santa Anita H and Dwyer, etc. (No grading in those days. People knew what the important races were, they didn't have to be told.)
Gander (g 1996) also dates to more than 6-7 years ago. He could run with the big boys.
