Thanks.

I was kind of laughing watching Woodhead on Hard Knocks thinking he was some kind of complete joke.

But, here's what I read about him when the Pats got him:

* Insane 4.33 speed and 11.2 60 yard shuttle. Faster than most elite recievers

* Reportedly has tremendous cutting ability - similar soccer background as Wes Welker - rushed for 2,700+ in just 13 games as college junior.

* Jets even used him a little at wideout despite his tiny size - which indicates he probably has good hands and can catch the ball. 38.5 inch vertical makes up a little bit for lack of size.

This guy is Wes Welker with a whole lot more foot speed - and he's one of the greatest small college running backs of all-time.

I doubt he was ever going to be useful in the Jets offense... but he's an absolute wet dream of a fit - attacking the middle of the field and running out of shotgun in New England's spread.

Kevin Faulk is a big old elephant who was not perfectly suited to this offense.

Here's the touchdown pass that Woodhead caught yesterday ....

* Moss (AKA Crack) is highlighted with the red box - and he's attacking the safety while cornerback Vonte Davis is covering him.

* Welker (AKA Cocaine) is highlighted with the blue box - he's also attacking the saftey ... and since it's 3rd down .. defenses almost always either double Welker or blitz.

This leaves the Pats with two dreamy 1-on-1 match-ups in space.

* Rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez is one on one with a LB going towards the sidelines.

* Danny Woodhead is left 1-on-1 .. in massive open space in the middle of the field ... against a freaking middle linebacker.

Woodhead will win this match-up 100% of the time. He's just way too fast and quick for a middle linebacker in space with the middle of the field wide open.

Here is what pissed me off in the Jets game during the 2nd half. Brady was pre-occupied with forcing the ball into crack/cocaine ... all while guys like Aaron Hernandez and Branden Tate were wide open and being ignored.

It's Vince Wilfork... teams can't run straight ahead at NE without smoke and mirrors.

They are one good cornerback away from being an inconsistant but OK defense.

Lets review this play without Moss:

I assume that will be either Brandon Tate or Julian Edellman in his place in the new offense.

* In 4 years at North Carolina, Tate never caught more than 25 passes in a season. Never had more than 479 yards rec in a season, never had more than 5 TD's in a season. But hey, he did have one huge recieving game against McNeese State his sr. year. Has yet to catch a single NFL TD. This was the guy who was wide open in the middle of the field against the Jets when Brady instead opted to force one up to Moss that the safety came down with on the tip. Great kick returner in college anyway

* Edellman - He was an option quarter back at Kent State two years ago. Played decently last year despite a broken arm - he has just 14 yards recieving so far this year.

Needless to say, neither one of these guys is getting doubled...nor will Brady even look at them much singled on the outside against a quality corner.

Blitz the middle linebacker who is left attempting to cover Woodhead - and put a safety in the box - and this play is no longer like taking candy from a baby. Brady is going to get hit a lot hit more over the course of the game - and the coverage will be a little better. Win-Win for opposing defenses.
