Where did I say sucks?

Come home times are exceptionally fast in synthetic races out West - especially when the early pace is so slow.

Here's a 13.54 final 1/8th from her when she had a fast pace in front of her ...

You didn't say sucks. I did. I'm probably a little overprotective of the queen. Sorry.

She's the greatest female synthetic horse of all-time as far as I'm concerned.

Better than even Nashoba's Key, St. Trinians, Informed Decision, Ventura etc.

She's probably the best North American based synthetic horse ever male or female as well.

She would have been a Superstar in any era on any surfaces. Her races at Oaklawn were also dominant.

I wasn't at all impressed with her Apple Blossom win this year. Her '08 AB win was solid - but nothing really special. She gets another chance to prove what kind of dirt horse she is in the Breeders Cup to those who doubt her greatness on that surface.

Whats kinda sad is the predicament that her owners have put her in, if she loses many are going say "see I told you so", yet in reality its not all that easy for 6 year olds to win the Classic, its only happened a handful of times.

This could have been avoided quite easily.

She probably still jogs but you never know in horse racing.

Actually it has never happened.

Cigar and Pleasantly Perfect couldn't do it … and there were probably other decent 6yos along the way which have tried.

Gives you some idea of what Z is up against here...

For some, perhaps she will get the credit she deserves if she wins. But let's also be realistic, it won't matter. I doubt a 120 beyer, secretariat like margin would suffice the detractors, it will probably be passed off as that she got the perfect trip, set up, the competition was mediocre, others had rougher trips....ect... You know excuses and you know the drill...My advice to you, is it doesn't matter what others think, don't waste your time. If they don't she's a great horse by now, why would anyone in their right mind think this will change after the BC?

Are you seriously offering up her age as an excuse as to why she will lose?

Was the obviously enhanced crowd noise really necessary? It made it hard to hear you, even though it was obviously fishy to say the least. There was a time when it was suddenly gone too, like you clicked a button or something.

If you've done Saturday's card at Hawthorne yet - What did you get for pace and final for the Hawthorne Gold Cup?

Surprised Girolamo hasn't been included as I thought he stepped up nicely. Wasn't a vintage Vosburgh field certainly, but he rolled them (:22.2, :22.4, :24.1) and showed a new wrinkle being on the lead.

And by the way... No one was more impressive, in defeat, than Crown of Thorns. That was some try in the Goodwood.

Are they planning on sending him to the Breeder's Cup?

Zenyatta looked like she was beaten and got up to win at a distance that isn't her favorite. Gary Stevens was there and impressed as well. Garry said 'she just continues to amaze me'.

My pick is Zenyatta.

Well said SB. He was tons better than Richards Kid, imo.

I don't know, he looked done entering the far turn IMO only to seemingly jump back in it when Twirling Candy hit a brick wall, then was easily picked off by Richard's Kid, who is probably everybody's #10 on their top ten list for the handicap division (unless they also have Awesome Gem on that list).

In a similar vein, I also thought Jaycito's rally in the Norfolk was somewhat illusory. He seemed spent also chasing the early leaders until at the 1/16th pole, when JP Gusto realized he won a 5f race way back in May.

Of course, I have extra insurance as both will be making their first start on dirt if they show up in the BC next out.

Of course she could have. She can also talk as well but chooses not to.

On a serious note, too bad the connections didn't take advantage of trying different surfaces in this era. Because great horses like Secretariat or Dr Fager would never have tried to run of a different surface like turf...
