"I thought her run today was quite courageous because the track was quite bad - she couldn't handle it. She's as big as a house and had a decent blow, so she needs the racing."

"The track might have been just a bit worse than we'd thought it would be - it was probably closer to slow than dead. She's never won first up and she had a bit of a blow. She was briefly held up for a run in the straight and when she got out she wanted to quicken down, but couldn't in the ground."

So maybe it's not so bad.

How good does Antonio Lombardo look?

Antonio Lombardo looks pretty good, but his stablemate Alvesta beat him by six lengths on debut and Peter McKay says "Alvesta's in another class". Alvesta is going to Sydney for his next start. I think Antonio Lombardo is being aimed at some of the big races here between January and April.

Upsala is still running. He's 25-1 at the moment for the 2000 Guineas.

Fields are confirmed for the second big day at Hastings this Saturday...
