Because it's not necessary in most cases. Today, for example, Ward had two baby 1sters in the 9th at SAR: BOTH geldings. Ward is obviously from the good-old-boy school of race training. He's carrying on for G P Odom, who'd geld them before they even got in the barn. I think there are better ways to go about things; more humane ways. You don't unnecessarily geld your colts; you teach your horses to run INSIDE, because this is EASIER for them; and you have your jocks ride them that way, because it's the HUMANE thing to do. There's a certain grace and art to this sport. If you watch enough races, you get a sense of what's 'natural' and what isn't. A result of this is a low tolerance level for IDIOTS -- be they jocks or trainers.
