who in there, besides fly down, is a real worry? second money if he manages that is 100k. that's better than a win in the curlin, isn't it? only way to know is to try.

actually, third here pays better then a win there. guess we'll see saturday.

Wouldn't you want to have a stakes win on your resume? Not that the Curlin would be easy, but obviously it would be easier.

I respect everyone in the field - I guess Afleet Express is the hot horse and will probably be the favorite.

he has a legit shot in the dandy, there are no singles in here. no guts, no glory. black type looks good, a 75k stakes...not so much. plenty of time for him to get a 75k win under his belt. this race isn't looking to be a tough one. if he's doing well, i see no reason not to try.

Good point.........I readily admit I'm conservative when it comes to my favorite horses. I do think he'll be scratched, though...

it's obvious. one thing you forget, most of these horses nowadays are lightly raced, so it really isn't an angle anymore. most horses don't go thru their conditions these days. if they show ability, they go into stakes races, make a name (hopefully) and go where the money is truly made, the shed.

Also, I hate having 2 favorites in the race because unless they dead heat for the win, one is going to lose............but I would be very happy if Fly Down won and MR ran well. That's my preferred order, but I would take the reverse any day.

You're right about being shifted off to the shed the moment they show some of their potential on the track - and I think that's a shame, particularly with good horses whose pedigrees indicate improvement as they get older.
