Yeah, it's absolutely stunning to see this company scrambling around like this.

You would think they'd have equipment and emergency plans in place to deal quickly with a nightmare scenario like this.

Yeah, like hurricane states do when disaster hits them.

These clowns (BP) were obviously in WAY over their heads here, Princess.

And I hope they get taken to the CLEANERS big time.

This is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE that could end up making Katrina look like your baby's playpen…

The oil companies successfully fight government regulation and oversight, then, when their third and last failsafe backup safety valve doesn't work, ....

I guess not Captiva/Sanibel, or the Keys.

You really can't make this crap up. BP should be on the hook for every penny, but Republicans are keeping in tact the $75 million liability cap. $75 million is a drop in the bucket for these morons.

i get this. it's not a completely unreasonable reaction.

i just wish people looked at their own responsibility rather than just blame either bp or the government. we live on cheap oil.

let he who is without a car cast the first stone.

Yeah take them to the cleaners. Gee I wonder who will pay for that in the long run? Shirley it won't be the consumers.

You have the mental and verbal skills of a frustrated 9-year-old. So?

LOL. The difference is that I don't give much of a rat's azz about you, whereas you feel compelled to constantly and repeatedly come out of the woodwork and use your insulting words in an attempt to make yourself look important. Or cool. Or scary. Or relentlessly idiotic

Look, dope, this company was woefully unprepared to deal with a disaster like this.

Hell, these amateurs apparently had to start using local fisherman when they finally realized that things were spinning out of control.

There is no room for error in that business … as even your dumb ass can clearly see now…

you both are correct. You are correct in the fact that these type of companies really need to be better prepared. Their "fail safe" measures werent exactly fail safe. It sucks that this happened. But coach is correct cause its us, the consumers, who will be screwed in the end because of this whole mess.

Update - BP says they'll clean up the mess, but they're not at fault.

Barack Obama and Senator Biden, you've said no to everything in trying to find a domestic solution to the energy crisis that we're in. You even called drilling -- safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore as raping the outer continental shelf.

There -- with new technology, with tiny footprints even on land, it is safe to drill and we need to do more of that.
