Man I think about this all the time but didnt know SA did this. How hard would it be for a track to install some poles around the race course and attach some tarps to it and just pull them out when there is weather threatening big races? I really dont think it would be that hard. They could save turf races by doing this also. I think tracks should look into this.

Sounds very costly for an industry that in many areas is on the brink of going under.

Shoot, they dont even need poles, just roll out the damn tarp like they do at baseball games.

If they didn't cancel it in '04 they won't cancel it this year. That track was a horrible mess.

I think that Lion Heart was carried around by that track. Of course, I always hated him, so that might have something to do with it.

The only good thing Lion Heart did in his entire career was get Joe Bravo his only Haskell.

Wasn't it last year they had a flood, and moved horses out of CD? I think Simon had to move to higher ground.

I'm wondering about Friday's turf races.

That monsoon came through 2 hours before the race and dumped several inches in a matter of an hour. They ran the Woodford in a thunderstorm on the turf.


Last year there was a 90% chance of rain and it never came, so I'm holding out hope.

The forecast isn't that ominous. The '07 and '08 Oaks were some of the worst downpours I've ever been in and the track held up just fine...

this just in .......THE KENTUCKY DERBY HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ABNORMAL PARANOIA......don't bother watching, betting or going.....its spring and it may rain!!!!!!!!!
