Thomas Jefferson is easily one of the least likable leaders of the American Revolution/Early Republic era (his penchant for stabbing his "friends" in the back being just one of many unpleasant characteristics) but at least he had the good sense to realize that Christianity was a load of crap.

"Question with boldness even the existence of a God..." has always been my favorite line from Jefferson.

His commissioning of the Corps of Discovery and hiring of Merriwether Lewis to lead it, was a pretty good move....

he's my least favorite of our 'founding fathers'. but then, i'm an alexander hamilton fan, and those two loathed each other! his running as fast as he could from the brits wasn't one of his better days as a leader.

Yeah, at least Hamilton made no bones about who he was and where he stood politically.
Jefferson, on the other hand, was a slimy little weasel.
