The question is whether NYRA has asked permission to do adopt .50 pic-4s, but NYSRWB has prevented them from enacting it? I doubt it. They were among the last to adopt the dime supers. There are many things that can be blamed on the NYSRWB, I don't think this is one of them.

you are missing the point, to get anything done here...well, its like building the great pyramids...it takes generations..........even if nyra tried, somehow there would be hemming and hawing or some blow hard in the way. empire state, yup, its an empire alright....lol

I get the fact that the NYSRWB is filled with a bunch of political hacks who know little about the sport that they regulate. Their inability to change the rule to allow supers in races with entries is a perfect example of their incompetence.

But with .50 pic-4s in at other tracks in NYS, I think it would take little effort or time by NYRA to get such a change through. (It's not a rule-making issue that would be subject to the State Administrative Procedure Act.) Every year come Saratoga, there's some tweak to the wagering menu/rules that has been allowed in relatively short order. Whatever the shortcomings of the NYSRWB are, this one does fall on NYRA (assuming that they have not asked for such a change).

I'd be curious to see the rule, written or otherwise, that "prohibits the dissemination of this information". Especially considering that the previous sentence says the information has already been disseminated.

What would be so bad about dime pick 4's? Seriously, any reductions in minimum betsize has been proven to be a winning strategy. Most of all, it helps bettors avoid tax problems and allows more creative structuring of tickets.

I'm all for avoiding ridiculous/unfair taxes, but a 10-cent pk4 just doesn't seem practical.

The issue is money, they don't have any! and are still playing Ping Pong with OTB, The State etc etc. IF things ever get sorted out and IF they get the model to work. I would bet on the current NYRA team to make it's racing the best in the sport.. I am sure they would love Trakus, HD, better betting Tech, I figure they would love to make the grounds (Belmont/Aqueduct) more fan friendly. It's just a simple matter of finding a financial platform that isnt on such crappy ground and all your wishes will come true. IMO
no

yes

once the slots are approved the $$$$ s/b rolling in fred and they will get there chance

as for the grounds , i don't think saratoga is that much better for fans than say belmont is

belmont has a large outdoor picnic area where you can watch the races , it has multiple levels for the public to watch the races , it has plenty of windows (i have never come close to getting shut out), it has a beautiful training track that you can go and watch the AM workouts, it has inside dining , it has bar service inside with a bartender where you can sit down , it has plenty of simulcasting

it's location is not the best , elmont is clearly not as picturesque as saratoga , but from a fan perspective and an operation standpoint i really enjoy belmont as much as saratoga

i can't comment on aqu as much becuase that is only maybe a 1 time a yr event
