Not much of a chance your taking. They are the overwhelming favorite in any sports betting book. Sort of like taking an 8/5 shot to win in an 8 horse field.
I was being sarcastic Tim.
The Al central teams are exhausted. Still playing for something, they got hammered again yesterday. Meanwhile the Yanks and A's are just resting and waiting. Its the Yanks or the A's.
What I find most incredible is that the Yanks and mets now have the same record. If you had told anyone that was gonna happen after the embarassing thrashing the Yanks took from the Indians back on the 4th of July when they fell 4 games behind the Red Sox they would have taken you away in a straight jacket. They've gone 46-25 since then. Thats .648 baseball.

Your saying the Yankees have had it wrapped up for a few weeks therefore are resting players, etc. I thought you said they were trying for home field? Losing 3 of 4 to the Red Sox isnt helping their cause. Why wouldnt they be trying harder to win? Mets have been under a hand ride for 2 months now. Their record means nothing to them. They have home field wrapped up. Again, regular season records are meaningless. If the Yankees lose before the World Series it will be a huge disappointment and mark the 6th consecutive year they havent gotten it done.

Tim its obvious from their lineups lately and the starting pitchers that they have used that they aren't going full bore. Torre is about as shrewd as they come. Hes been keeping an eye on who has best record, and like a jockey in front by 2 in the stretch, hes gonna hand ride unless someone gets next to him.
But I do have a question for you. Lets suppose the Yanks and twins have a tie for best record. The yanks and twins split the 6 games they played this year. What happens then to break the tie? Do they flip a coin?

Good question and I am not sure of the answer. Maybe they look at who has the better record within their division? They wouldnt play a single playoff game to determine it, thats too much.

Yeah, I know. Yanks have powder puff games coming up against Tampa, and then finish with Baltimore and Toronto at home anyway. I really can't see them blowing home field. Torre will have to pitch Mussina, Wang, Johnson and Wright anyway the last week just to make sure they are sharp heading into the playoffs.
