Maximus Ruler is a tough one to figure. His dam has produced a whole lot of nothings, and the one decent runner she did produce was a turf sprinter. Her pedigree, however, seems to point more to dirt routing.
Roman Ruler is also an unknown quantity, so like Steve said, Maximus Ruler could be pretty much anything at this point. I did think his race on Saturday was pretty impressive.

I thought that Walking the Beach, a pricey Medaglia D'Oro who won his debut for Calhoun in the Thanksgiving Day finale at Churchill, looks like a very interesting prospect.

Yeah, I just watched that one.

That was pretty impressive, especially with how wide he went, how green he was, and how geared down he was at the end.

I just watched a super nice Godolphin 2yo in England win his debut a month ago. He opened up 7 in the lane before being geared down. The horse he put away to open up by 7 ended up closing the cap to 3-4.

He's by Shamardal and his second dam is Urban Sea.

Oh yeah, the name is Burj Nahar.

For those that don't remember that sire, Shamardal, he won 6 of his 7 starts. His lone loss came on his one dirt try in Dubai. Half of those 6 wins were in grade 1s, including the French Derby. He made a hair under 2 mil.

He is by Giants Causeway out of a full sister to Street Cry.

This has got to be one of the best bred 2yos out there.

Don't know about under the radar, but Super Saver looks like a promising horse for Todd P. Already has 172K in the bank, and set a new stakes record winning in impressive style last Sat. at Churchill.

I'll be watching Aikenite closely. Stalked and won at 1st asking going 6f, then closed from dead last in the Hopeful going 7f to finish 3rd. Then moved to synthetics stretching out. Think this one may be able to move forward back on dirt.

Default Been in my watch list......

Since breaking his maiden first out in the slop at Hawthorne for Dale Romans
My Time To Star. He was passed then re rallied very nicely to win. He won a $100,000 stake in his second start by 7 or 8 lengths, very impressive. Now he's in tomorrow night's Delta Jackpot, and I think he will be tough. I thought I heard him brought up on ATR the other day? I'll be keeping an eye on this Five Star Day colt.

There is a 4x4 Mr Prospector, 5x4 Northern Dancer. Nothing new there . Tail male Northern Dancer crossed with tail male Northern Dancer . Again, a routine cross.
Shamardal is a full to Street Cry not Burj Nahar. BN's dam, Malikah, has produced nothing of note on the track to date. However, 2nd dam Urban Sea is compelling.

Shamdaral is a half to Street Cry, not a full.

But yeah, you were right in implying that my post wasn't very clear when I was talking about who was related to Street Cry.

He was a friends favorite when they prepped him as a baby. We have the mare here where I work so fingers crossed that he does well and goes on.

It was especially looking at the fractions as well...trainer does not inspire much confidence though.

While not a dirt horse, Lost Aptitude was awesome in each of his two turf wins at the Churchill fall meet.

I wonder if they will at least try him on the dirt, he has such a high cruising speed and just exploded after somewhat fast fractions.

He is out of a Lost Code mare, I know zero about Lost Code, what type of horse was he?

A really damn good horse was what Lost Code was.

Dirt route speed type.

As a four year old, Lost Code raced 7 times.

6 wins with his one loss a close 2nd to Bet Twice in the Pimlico Special, with Cryptoclearance in third.

He made over 2 mil in his career.

A couple of his more memorable races: A great third in a three horse photo in the Haskell with Bet Twice and Alysheba. Bet Twice by a neck over Sheba, with Lost Code another neck back. Fourth was 12 back.

Then his four year old debut he won a 7f race in 121.1 at GP by 15.

That was a really underrated horse that had the misfortune of being in one of the most loaded crops in history.

Lost Code was a good 9f dirt horse who - if I am remembering correctly - cleaned up the 2nd-tier derby races his 3yo year. I know he won here (the Illinois Derby), and I think he may have won a couple of other races of that nature too (Ohio and Pensylvania maybe?). As Indian Charlie said, he had a nice 4yo campaign as well and was just a very good G2-type 9f dirt horse for the most part.

I don't recall him ever doing much as a sire, but oddly enough both Lost Aptitude and Maximus Ruler - two receiving attention in this thread - are out of Lost Code mares.

I'm surprised GC1985 hasn't mentioned Souper Spectacular in this thread.
