I thought I spelled out why I think it was a trap. So if you don't agree, obviously I have a different definition. That game was bad news for the Giants, ...painfully obvious before the kickoff.

Vegas refused to move the line to 3 1/2 because they knew everyone would pound the Giants. Secondary injuries or no, the Giants were expected to put forth a better showing than that.

Sure they were, but they didn't, and I don't think it matters much in the long run. That was my only point. I also don't bet football and don't care about point spreads.

Regardless of whether you bet, spreads are generally a good indication of how a team is expected to perform, that's all I'm saying.

Vegas makes the lines based on how people are expected to bet, not how the experts think the teams will perform. The Giants are almost always overbet in Vegas.

That's why I said generally. Obviously there are a handful of teams that get a few points in their favor each week, but in general it's a good gauge.

The fact that the Giants secondary is really suspect was certainly exposed against a very good offense. The fact that they got little pressure on Brees has to be concerting to them. While they do have injuries, Phillips is out for the year and Ross hadnt played this yet, they were the top ranked pass defense coming into today. They were dreadful today.

The Bengals just didnt do anything well.

Especially since Brees was 0-4 with really bad performances coming off the bye the last four years.....
