Because it goes beyond numbers. If it were just numbers Ortiz would have won it last year. As I said in another post, each would be a worthy recipient.
It does go past numbers. It goes right to the NY media bias. Arod won it last year for the same reason. Dye will put the White Sox on his back and win the division and they still will give it to their pretty boy Derek Jeter.
