tell me why it's not the case look at boston's home record

i know someone who watches all the red sox games , it's getting laughable (the strike zone) now , even bobby cox went off about it

they don't get the same treatment on the road ----that's why they win 20 more games a year at home , it's that simple folks

Yeah, Bobby Cox should talk.
But theSox were/are a good team. Are you trying to say that the umps have that much influence that made the Sox play 24 games over .500 at home?

not 24 , they are +116

why can't they beat the same teams on the road over '04-'09 , what, do the good players from the other teams not play(sit on the bench) when they are in boston? i don't think so

i could see 1 yr , maybe 2yr's ,but now we are going on more than a half decade - this has to stop

Ok, so over a 4 year period it's 29 games over .500 at home. So they roughly went 53-29 at home during the last 4 years. With a big bulk of games against the Jays, O's and Rays (who before last year were not good & you can actually throw the bombers in there too). I guess you discount home field advantage. I personally think that they just had damn good teams, period.

yeah but if those teams stink like you say , shouldn't they beat them anywhere , my point is if they played the games on the jersey turnpike boston should win at a healthy clip away from Fenway - the 5 yr peroid suggests they are an average team on the road and a way above average team at home (again 1 or 2 yr sample is too small)

Wouldnt your theory make the Red Sox a very beatable team on the road in the postseason? Explain their success on the road in the postseasons. Dont give me the BS about the sample size. They have performed very well on the road in 4 out of the last 5 postseasons. The one they didnt they only played 2 games on the road and lost both to the White Sox, the year they crushed everybody.

I'll give you this year, but last year was:

LAA by a mile at 50-31
NYY at 41-40
Tampa at 40-41
Texas at 39-42
Boston at 39-42

They were obviously a very good team. They won 2 world series (sweeping both teams) and then they lost the pennent in 7 games.
So what is your point and conclusion? Is it that the umps make them be 29 games over .500 at home or is the water in the visitor's clubhouse tainted? Cause I'm guessing that they were a good team is not it.
