Bob, This isn't an isolated issue. This Administration is doing things in other areas that the Bush Administration would have never had the nerve to do. Here is a perfect example:

I remember seeing that earlier here...it is hard to justify. But to your original point, I still feel that Obama World politics are light years more inclusionary than Bushes ever were. You may not agree on who is being included, but that is a different conversation.

I agree with you that the Obama World politics are more inclusionary than Bush. But I don't know whether this strategy will pay off or not. I think it is good in the sense that Obama may be able to rehabilitate the US' reputation with the masses in some other countries. That is a good thing. But I am skeptical as to whether the strategy will pay any true dividends in terms of us getting more of what we want from some of these governments that we are reaching out to.

and also, surely we can reach out to some of these countries while not pissing off our traditional allies? so, now instead of just china being mad at us over those guys, england is as well. as my son would say, well that's just fantastic.
i just think it's going to take more than a couple of pretty speeches to fix what's been broken for years. it may actually not even be fixable past a certain point. thing is, even if we try to reach common ground, we still need to make sure we're reaching out to something that doesn't reach out and bite us back for our efforts.
