Trainers are allowed in the detention barn. As are the assistants and/or grooms that stay with the horse the whole 6 hours. The horses aren't in solitary confinement. Horses get walked, etc.

Mullins simply missed the "No Syringes" sign on the way into the detention barn. No biggie.

I've never been strip searched at security in any airport.

that's cuse you haven't been picked , they can't do it to everyone

but some people are asked to step into a room with their bag/s , they ain't going for coffe with the TSA

at least a body search could be done by a guard , the syringe would never have gotten through

I've been picked. They've gone through my bag, but never strip searched. When they found out I was a poster on Derby Trail, I had to give blood, a fingernail and one of the last few strands of hair left on my head. The guard wanted my Racing Form, I told him that was the one thing I wasn't giving up and he understood.

The system worked, they caught him, not sure what the complaint is.

Am I missing something, or didn't the current system work? They got Mullins and the horse scratched.

I think the connections have every right to check on their horses that are stuck in the detention barn for 6 hours. Unfortunately there are people in this world that want/have to cheat. And you could make every security upgrade to the barns that you want, but if they really want to cheat they will find a way.

Should we really make anyone see Jeff Mullins naked against their will? Just send him to prison and at least then it'll be "consensual."

I don't think we should be so quick to assume IEAH won't publicly pitch a fit. They can of course write it off to being the other owner's right to decide the trainer but they won't miss an opportunity to cry 'I am shocked, shocked, to learn there is cheating going on in this establishment...'

NYRA should put casino styled cameras in (pretty damn cheap these days) and put the feed online. Suspicious activities could be flagged and tapes could be reviewed. If they can spot someone switching dice or palming cards they can spot a syringe. Of course this will NEVER happen.

It makes sense... so there's no way it'll ever happen.
