don't the best horses win the best races w/ the best purses?? besides, ap indy moved to #1--i bet your argument won't be the same with him!!
And I have to say that Seattle Slew led the sires list in 1983 (I think?) because of Slew O'Gold's bonus for winning the Woodward and Gold Cup...I'm sorry, I know this isn't exactly correct; I just know SOG got a huge bonus.

Why are you bringing Indy into this? Oh, I know........oh, nevermind. I'm not going to get into another argument. I just have to be prepared for snide comments about my bias towards Indy whenever I post something that doesn't jibe with what other people think, even if Indy has nothing to do with it. Well, there's still plenty of time for Indy to drop from the top spot.

yeah, slews first crop was a bonanza.

lol
i certainly don't mind ap indy up top. he's one of my favorites, a good stamina influence, as well as having slew as his pop. mineshaft and bernardini when he retires hopefully will carry on the legacy as well as ap indy.

my only point was, you can't bash one sire, esp knowing another sire is at the top for much the same reason....most of those at the top have just one performer raking in a bunch of the dough, and putting them up there. it's just the name of the game. and it wasn't snide, but i believe you take most replies to you as being such....not my problem.

Premium Tap is o/o Premium Red/Phylomina-Thirty Six Red (Seattle Slew line). No earth shattering names but a good bottom line with 2 reines de course and 1 g1 winner. He is 3x4 to Stage Door Johnny. That Will Farish (co-breeder of PT) comes up with some interesting matings.

So anyone who is not a sheikh has some hope.

Sumitas,
I'm bold enough to say that in this game, a sheikh and a little guy like me have exactly the same chances when our horses find their way into the gate.
It's happened before, and will happen again and again.
Today we found a few well bred favs go down to lessers.
It's just a big oval afterall. The horses do it, whether it's a 500K sire like Storm Cat, or one that doesn't hook with the sales ring buyers cause they haven't heard the name. It gives a little guy like me hope.
My guess is that many have forgotten Stage Door Johnny.
I haven't. The gene pool is pretty close.

DTS,
hypo Darbay with Silver Music. Outstanding. DOn't forget Peruvian and Legion FIeld either. And Key Contender for Bourbon Streettune, or any Ice Capade top line sire.

i know these are not Deputy Minister lines but indulge me, lol.

Sumitas,
Thanks. I wrote them down. Darbay is 100% winners from starters. Sires have been Gold Miner's Gold and Gone for Real.
Ice Capade looks like a good match for Boubon Streettune. The Stanislavsky filly is gorgeous. That one is heavy with Northern Dancer. She's growing like a weed.
Thanks for the input.

Do your thing personally, i'd love to see you inbreed some of the reines de course in the mares. Darbay is exceptionally well bred with many reines de course in her first 5 gens. just my 2 cents from the peanut gallery.

Sumitas,
Help me out on this if you have some time. The only Ice Capade I could find in NY is Chief Seattle ( Seattle Slew X Skatingonthinice by Ice Capade).
Chief Seattle is at Empire Stud in Hudson, NY.
Here's Key Contender. I couldn't find Ice Capade in his ped.
Thanks.

Here's the hypo for Silver MusicXDarbay. I see what you mean on this.
Line breeding to Raise a Native, Native Dancer.
Silver Music's fee seems plenty good too.
