Betting Belle Allure here. And doubles with the 2,5,10 in the 9th.
I made a comment right after the race, but I think it went right over everyone's head. Ridiculous non call and even more a ridiculous ride out by Nakatani. The guy should stay retired if that is the way he rides out his mounts.

Note: I like Nakatini as a jockey

How is he suppose to ride that mount out when the horse is weaving in front of him.

I didn't see the head on, but how the horse didn't get taken down off the pan view alone was horrible.

I didn't go over my head...I just don't agree. Is Nakatani supposed to not check, and clip heels and cause a spill. I agree the 5 should have come down, but don't think Nakatani had many options that didn't endanger all the horses and jockeys involved.

I respect riders, anyone who decides to ride a 1000lb animal for a living with no insurance policy certainly has earned my respect. Saying that Nakatani seems to have lost the edge that once made him one of the best Jockies around. Too bad really...right now he's riding not to get hurt.

Can I blame him? No, but the best riders don't go out there thinking I think I will take the safest way around.

I don't want to get into a great debate about this, but IMO but had he slid outside after the horse went in front of him he could have kept riding instead of pulling up the horse. Granted it's a split second decision but as I said he just quitted after the horse went into his path.

Fair enough, we see it differently.

I think he was trying to sell it for the DQ because he knew the other horse was much the best. I also don't think he realized it would cost him 2 placings.

Agreed, he not only tried to oversell it but he stopped riding, the latter is a no no in horseracing. Regardless I don't agree with the stewards that the 5 was clear. Was he the best, yes but the horse went into the path of another horse when he was not clear.
