biden's son was discussed as his possible replacement but that would have been an appointment by the governor.

i looked up the ny election code and it looks like they have to hold a special election.

i'm not sure it really makes any sense for bill clinton to be the most junior member of the senate anyways. i think a big part of hillary's taking sec of state is a recognition of how little power short tenured senators actually have.

it's an institution where the levers of power are in the hands of people that are there the longest. neither of them would get any significant committee assignments and certainly no chairmanships.

I thought so also...frankly, she would have been the only Republican that I would have considered voting for had she run for the Presidency...very intelligent, well spoken and respected most everywhere.
