![]() It's a beautiful, cold, sunny day in central Kentucky. Went out early this morning to get the roadworking miles done, three dogs individually, then walked one. Can't beat the countryside view, trotting with the dogs past fields filled with maturing yearlings, and broodmares getting fatter in anticipation of foaling out in a few months. Later today the traditional and fattening turkey dinner, then tomorrow to Churchill Downs to see Rampillion run in her second race, fingers crossed.
Looking back over the years, I can't remember a Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday when the horses and dogs didn't need their attentions first, or when we weren't outside for at least part of the day, on a horse or behind a dog. Life is good, and animals and the outdoors just make it better. Tons better. We're so lucky to have them. Happy Thanksgiving!
