and thank goodness he hasn't got any, so he can come out and play for a while yet.

Dude, Good Reward was 1 win in 7 dirt starts prior to this race with no 2nds or 3rds either. Are we really supposed to jump up and down because he beat Good Reward in the slowest running ever on a track that has been playing very fast? The emperors new clothes come off if he ever comes East. BUt I doubt that will happen, some excuse will come up.

Yeah, wait till Lava Man runs into a real Grade 1 horse like Flower Alley, that horse will show him what heart is about!

and in lava mans defense, the track has been playing slow. i'm sure they've been tinkering with it due to the breakdowns, made it deeper....

but the drift a top horse? no. 2nd tier, makes money, but he's not the cream...

Perfect Drift didnt run his race. Gee i wonder what happened to Lava Man at Belmont when he went over. You people gotta put this in perspective with Lava Man and his "Grade 1" wins

i really wish you naysayers would quit peeing in lava mans wheaties. what the hell more does this guy have to do? like it's HIS fault his trainer/owner are west coast people. he hasn't taken a step wrong all year. why hold against him what MAY happen when he comes east! why can't you just give him a bit of a hand for winning all year? against anyone who showed? and he just accomplished in one year what it took best pal to do in three, something that's never been done....but oh, no! we have to hear speculation about what will happen when he comes east. gimme a break.

here's to the BEST horse in the west. i'll hold off judgement on his east coast ability when he actually comes over here in a few months, and shows if he can or not. til then, who knows?! um, no one does.

I piss on the older division this year. It's absolutely horrible.

Lava Man is a throwback to the days when horses were professional athletes ...

... who knew their business ... showed up for all the big races ... and did their jobs.

Anyone who doesn't have the highest respect for this horse ... is someone who doesn't know squat about the meaning of horse racing.

Lava Man wont win the BC Classic as he has not won outside So Cal.
Do you know how hard it is to transport Doug Oneil's chemistry set?

Zieg thats not fair. He was this good last year and came East and was just horrendous. Now look, that effort last year in the JCGC makes it absolutely fair to say ho hum until he comes east and does something different, don't you agree? Or did you forget that he came east last fall and looked like a very bad horse?

Unlike Best Pal Lava Man has a "miraculous" trainer and he hasnt beaten anything of quality yet. Kudos to the horse for taking advantage of a weak colony, i hope all of his backers load up on him for the breeders cup b/c he'll have no shot vs Invasor and Bernardini.

I thought he made a nice move at the 3/8 pole. Yes, it was slow.
Good ride. Nice that he left enough in the tank. Good Reward was coming.
This race was all about smart and stupid jockeys. I see this kind of race more often on the grass than this one.
Anyway, good for Lava Man and his connections.
We'll see....

PD was second in the Stephen Foster which is a Grade I. Oh yeah, Seek Gold won that race and Lava Man kicked his a s s in the Hollywood Gold Cup. I think it is funny that East Coast horses don't seem to run well and win on the West Coast yet West Coast horses are EXPECTED to run well on the East Coast if they are to be considered REAL top horses. East Coast horses always have people jumping to give them excuses when they can't win to a superior horse on the West Coast. People aren't as forgiving to West Coast horses.

Since Lava Man is so much better than he was last year, I am giving him a shot to do well on the East Coast if he comes over. Maybe not win, but do well. Bernardini is most likely going to crush them all anyway.

There are only three horses that are in the top tier of Grade I classic division races right now. They are Bernardini, Invasor, and Lava Man. I'm not even sure how good Invasor is since he could barely hold off Sun King (although Sun King seems to be improving greatly). Flower Alley would have been included in this, but I think the horse is finished.

KYroses,
If this horse ever wins in the East I will wash your ****** car. Or mow your ****** lawn. he came east last year and got slapped around like a red headed stepchild. I really see no reason why it would be different this year. And once again I say, Good Reward? He beats Good Reward and we are supposed to fall to our knees and praise him?

He went head and head in :46 3/5. It's not easy to do that in a 1 1/4 mile race. He finished up pretty good. He ran the 1 1/4 miles in 2:01 3/5. Are you sure that's the slowest ever? The race has only been around for about 12-13 years, but that would still be surprising if 2:01 3/5 is the slowest in 12 years.

By the way, LM has beaten a lot more good horses than Invasor has. He beat Borrego by 8 in the Hollywood Gold Cup last year and earned a 120 Beyer. Borrego went back East a few months later and crushed everyone.

Of course he is not a real G1 horse he hasn't won in 14 months and is obviously in his worst year out of the past couple by not even posting a beyer over 100 so far this season.
