I don't think Harty is anything special as a trainer. But I think he is adequate. I don't think he's a bad trainer. I would rate him slightly better than average.

By the way, did you see that Ron Ellis ended up having the best win percentage of any trainer at Hollywwod Park the meet that just ended? He had 14 wins from 54 starters.

For the year he is at 19%. He has 20 wins from 104 starters. But he also has over 20 second place finishes. So that means that over 40% of his starters have run 1st or 2nd this year.

You would rate Harty slightly better than average, with that stock he gets?

Good for Ellis! I still say he's an underachiever though.
