ok this might sound crazy, and maybe its not even the place to ask this, but i have a question !

the guy above said he is still trying to have a positive return on his win bets, depending on how you look at it, cant you actually make more money and have a better ROI, playing pick 3 and 4 then you would have, by making just win bets. when you make a win bet you bet 1 horse, when you play pick 3 and 4, you can go as many deep as you wish, therefore isen't it almost easier to cash a pick 3 or 4 ?

Im honored you refer to me now as "the guy above".
I read in one of DRF books that Andy is in, 'if you cant make a profit betting to win you are gonna have a hard time making money in exotics.' I think it was six secrets of successful bettors/
I think it boils down to betting too many races, being a once-twice a week guy without an internet acct. I'll usually play 90% of the races at Bel and CD, such as today.

im sorry JACK, but i disagree, i seem to struggle when it comes to picking 1 horse to win a race, but i can put in a 2-2-2 pick 3 and do well, or a 3-3-2-2 pick 4 and hit for almost 10k, and a lot of ppl would not even consider that going deep, so its not like you can say im just tossing any or all horses in, i used to go to the track or otb and only make win/place bets, now 95% of my bets are pick 3 and 4

Thats the fun thing about the game I guess, there are many ways make a score. However, I disagree with your approach but if you are cashing for ten k, carry-on.

Very rarely will I 'dutch' a race. I have bet 80 to win on my top choice at say 5-1, then maybe put 20 on a bomb that I like. The last time I remember doing that was haskell day at Mon park last year, when they ran 1-2 for a sweet exacta.

see, i would never ever consider betting 2 horses to win, i would feel like i was betting against myself....also you cant make money betting 1-1 or 4-5 shots to win, but keying in a pick 3 or 4 and catching a price with it, you then can make money
