My per hour "rate" must be absolutely horrible....even during the rare stretches when I am actually playing well. I don't know about other people, but I spend a significant amount of time handicapping races that I don't end up betting. If I look at a race for say 40 minutes, and have done all the work I can on it....but still can't find anything that I think is dark form or a good value, I'll often just skip it and move on to the next race. While doing it this way certainly leads to me making fewer truly bad plays than I once did, it doesn't really lead to a great hourly rate.

I have never really thought of it in those terms however. If I get to spend 5 hours handicapping an entire card, and I walk away from the day up $5, I consider it a great day.
