Wasn't this like his 50th start, Brock?
Something like that. God I love it when the ones who don't win much do it. Bet the connections are glad they couldn't sell him now. No one wanted him. He showed them! YEA!!! ![]() |

The return of the King...
Racing Post... Lovelace and King Jock in Group 2 action David Conolly-Smith PREVIEW: GERMANY, Tuesday Baden-Baden: Darley Oettingen-Rennen (G2) 1m THE Mark Johnston-trained Lovelace and Robbie Osborne's King Jock contest an eight-runner renewal of Germany's top all-aged mile race, the Group 2 Darley Oettingen-Rennen, at Baden-Baden on Tuesday. Jamie Spencer will be aboard Lovelace, who has not been seen out since winning a valuable Sandown handicap then finishing fast into second in the Bunbury Cup six days later in early July. Robbie Burke maintains his successful partnership with King Jock, who must carry a 3lb penalty for his Group 2 success in Italy on June 1. The durable seven-year-old gelding is also returning from a break, having last raced when eighth of nine in a Group 3 at Longchamp on June 24. Briseida, the German 1,000 Guineas heroine, and Peace Royale, a dual Pattern Race-winning miler, head the home team. Briseida has been highly tried since that classic triumph, finishing fifth in the Falmouth Stakes and seventh in the Prix Rothschild. She too must shoulder a 3lb penalty. Peace Royale sufferedtraffic problems when a close fifth to Rosenreihe in the German Oaks last time out and hails from the yard of Andreas Wohler, who won this 12 months ago with another three-year-old filly, Mi Emma. |
