I was a little suprised to see El Gato Malo show up in the Lone Star. I thought WestPoint would run him in the Preakness.

Although they, understandably, seem to get pretty excited when they have a Triple Crown horse, they strike me as businessmen first and foremost. And they certainly know how to run their business. They picked up a nice check.

maybe he'll run back in the belmont. since he couldn't make the derby, the lone star/belmont is a nice way of spacing his races, rather than preakness/belmont. and still one of the three in there. but that's pure speculation on my part. maybe the penna derby next? some of the horses who had been potentially headed there are now preakness bound.

The PA Derby is a pretty clever idea. Sun King padded his bankroll nicely by running there.
