I will agree that Sailors Cap looks pretty serious, but that horse has a big shot

He smoked what could have been a weak G3 field last out, and was only extended for the stretch. Now I agree that he got a pretty good trip and had some racing luck, but Albarado never moved on this horse and when he got the hole, he exploded.

I think we should have a Derby Trail Handicapping Contest. Maybe at Del Mar

I'm surprised to see Blackberry Road entered to be honest, because I thought they were going to wait for an allowance...but it should definitely be interesting-he's bred for it too I think!

I'll grant you that he ran well late in his last start at Keeneland. However, he beat what was a pretty weak, restricted (for 3YOs only) NW2X field, and the final time of his race (1:44.1 for 8.5F) does not compare all that favorably to the final time (1:37.1 for a mile) run by 3YO fillies, albeit nice ones, about an hour later. Prussian and Cannonball are much more talented than anything he faced in that allowance race.

Did you watch the race? He never was asked or extended, he GALLOPED.

And how doesn't that time favor, half a furlong is 110 yards, if I picture a horse running on a football field, at full speed, my guess is that is about 6 seconds...Cannonball ....Prussian, I am not sure about.

And do you see the trip he is going to get in this race, I really hope that the overmatched Gomez horse stays in the race to keep Prussian honest....

Yes, I was at Keeneland that day, sitting on the finish line. I'm not saying that Nistle's Crunch can't win in this spot. I was primarily disagreeing with your assessment of the field that he beat in his last race. I'll stick by my assertion that he beat a very modest group of horses, none of whom would compare to either Cannonball or Prussian.

I don't know the mile split of the Nistle's Crunch race, but the fact is that the colts took seven seconds to go an extra half-furlong. That's not real good.
