I don't blame the owners for selling ( in fact they're very smart ). I guess money is meaningless to the Sheik, so he can way overpay for anything he wants, and nobody else is even in the marketplace. And, the only way we get to see decent 4YOs anymore is if they pretty much flop at 3 ( like Circular Quay ).

I guess if you have a personal fancy for a 3YO you should hope it flops or gets a minor injury before it gets snatched up by the Sheik.

to be honest, i'd do the same thing in their shoes.

well, i guess it depends. if i was small time, i'd sell. if i was loaded like some of these owners, i'd tell the sheik to go scratch.

Sorry if I missed it, but do we know what the number was?

i just read an article about it on bloodhorse, of course it doesn't say. but i'm sure there are incentives if he wins certain races/gr 1's throughout the remainder of the year. his future will be decided by the sheik post-bc, when he officially changes hands.

No. They don't make it public. I'll let you know when I hear.

I guess I'm more curious/naive as to how they determine that number? Is it ego or formula that drives it..or probably both?

I don't know much about that side of the business ( to say the least ). I do know the Hard Spun and Street Sense numbers were outrageous.
