I believe it was Dave Litfin of DRF(I could be wrong but I seem to recall him being the guy who wrote it) who wrote a very fascinating article on tracking his wagers and seeing the patterns of where he was winning and losing and in what kind of races and on what kind of wagers.
I'm not sure if there is any software available. I think a lot of people just get a feel for what is working for them. I try and avoid claiming races, the cheaper they are the worse I do. I have no confidence in them whatsoever and try to play them only when necessary in a pik-3 or pik-4 run where I have an opinion on other races. Like the last race at the Spa yesterday, I thought 8 out of 10 horses had a chance to win. Simply inscrutable to me.
