I don't know, but there are plenty of races today and they could have just went three dirt/three turf and given people one turf early and three dirt, carryover or no carryover, given all the adjustments and uncertainity.

Could have flip flopped the 4th/5th and 6th/7th

That was a very professional effort by Grasshopper on the comeback... Nice to see.

1:50 gate to wire. Are the other horses that bad or is it jockey error?

A little of each. Jocks decided to let the heavy favorite have an easy lead and cut slow fractions. For whatever reason Bridgmohan tried to rate Inca King who should have kept the pace honest and instead was rank for half the race. Not how I pictured it.
