![]() For John McCain - you have a guy who is very much a maverick, he's the kind of guy who might not take someone solely based on the effect they might have of helping him win.
Former Pennsylvania Gov - and Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge endorsed Mckean and backed him strong at a time when McKean seemed like a lost cause. Ridge is catholic with, I believe, a decorated war background. He is probably the ideal McCain choice I would think. Huckabee is a logical choice to help him politically - he is loved by the Christian base that doesn't much care for McCain,,,,and Huck and McCain have been eye-raisingly friendly with each other throughout. They were in a close South Carolina race - which McCain slimly won - it was a very civil race considering it was make or break for both guys. The Florida Gov Charlie Crist might be a longshot. For Mitt Romney - If he won, he would spend a lot of money on polls and such and pick the guy whoever benefited him most politically at the time he had to make the choice. No idea who that would be. If cash strapped Huckabee was to win - by some miracle - the likely choice would be McCain - though, he's the type of guy who take a shot with someone like a J.C. Watts maybe. For both democrats - I would think Al Gore would be the first guy asked. If he says no - which would seem likely..... Clinton - I really have no idea who she would take. Seeing the way she has run, I would feel VERY confident she would take former Virgina Gov Mark Warner - who would perfectly fit what she wants - but, I heard Warner is running for the senate in 2008. Obama - He might choose a female - but if he does - I believe Kansas Gov Kathleen Sebelius would be a lot more likely than Hillary Clinton. It would seem more likely he'd go for a white male - probably from the south - I wouldn't really know who though. Warner seems like another obvious name - but he's running for the senate. Edwards seems obvious - but he just might be yesterdays news. |

![]() Clinton and Mitt would most likely pick weak, little known lackey types to counter the Cheney backlash. McCain has to make the toughest choice beccause it is doubtful he is a 2 term president and obviously is going to need someone competent to alliviate fears about his age. Obama needs to find a moderate that wont make the ticket too radical left leaning.
