He shouldn't have given up the rail out of the gate but it probably wouldn't have mattered.
Phil, he was riding the absolute lone speed on a racetrack that has been very kind to speed, especially at two turns. She absolutely had the lead to herself, Dominguez was not perservering, and he just gave it up to be outside, which is deadly on the inner at two turns on many occasions. They crawled and he just gave up the advantage he was given. She's a faint hearted sprinter trying to stretch to a two turn win. The absolute best way to get that done is to attempt to wire the field.

Had she held her position, the pace could have been pretty much just as slow and she would have held the inside, and perhaps not allowed the winner up the rail. Could she still have lost? Of course, but this is not the way you ride to your strengths and the track's strengths. Elliot has no clue and only wins races because he rides miracle horses for Assmussen ( did you catch the one in Thursday's 3rd race by the way? ).

Fair enough- again, I was observing without PP's (even though I know Graeme Central had been a sprinter in the past), and you certainly know my opinion of speed on the inner. He shouldn't have taken back.

I don't know where her career will go but Carol Cedeno has done quite wel, often with big priced horses.
She certainly seems to have the heart to try. She's riding 7 days a week and from accounts I've seen is interested in learning. She's taken a couple of spills and yet has come right back. She is a pretty determined closing rider but she'll need to work on breaking and going. Maybe a stint in Cali or Arizona would sharpen her up.

I like to see young riders who really want to learn the craft. Alan Garcia seems to "want it" and has done very well. Carol Cedeno is proving that she has the will to try. I agree with BTW, it is nice to see a young woman doing well and learning the game.
