mine was an atheist, who married a Catholic, who (she) became an agnostic, who became an Episcopalian, who probably could have made Muslim if she hadn't died last year. I mean...it's like being a free agent...there are very few loyals anymore

"mine was an atheist, who married a Catholic"

had it been the other way around i'd have guessed you were jewish.

"who became an Episcopalian"

that grew up in minnesota.

"it's like being a free agent...there are very few loyals anymore"

and that you were actually bob dylan.

sorry about your mom.

Wow, hard to believe people get upset about the lack of the National Anthem before a game. I had actually forgotten they play the Anthem at the track until visiting Saratoga this year. Most people look at it as an inconvenience to stop and be quiet for a few minutes.

I'm as patriotic as the next guy, probably moreso than most, but I don't think this is any big deal.

You filthy naybob of nincompoopism!

You are entitled to your yak like opinion.

But just you keep one thing in mind ...sir.

The guy that went on perimeter patrol even though the weather was inclement and he had lost his best friend the night before having watched his head disappear ..he probably wasn't too crazy about his own inconvenience either.

So if we can't take 2 stinking minutes to remember guys like this before sporting events....which are a luxury.....when that 2 minutes can be seen to be " no big deal" then we get what we have today which will become more and more over the tomorrows.

Now if you can claim you have done that ....that's a different story. I was in the Marines....but I never had to actually fight in a war.

Hundreds of thousands to date have.

If they think as you......then I admit to being a fool.

I was saying this one game, they made a decision, admittedly wrong, but that is life. No do overs. It is hardly worth condemnation.

Yes it is.......they still played the game...didn't they?

That's the level of importance it is given.

The spirit of God Bless America,America the Beautiful or the Anthem is allowed to be there thanks to football.

I thought it was the other way around.

Fucl<in' aye!!

God I have great thoughts!

What if on that national stage with a stadium missing many fans and the game about to go on.........and I don't know if the sound system didn't work or if they had a band there...say they could not do either.

But did do somehing even if it was a person...anyone.....who went out to the 50 and sang one of those songs.

What a tremendous opportunity to display what this really should mean to us all.

But no....delay already too long ....just not industrious enough to come up with a way to get this "inconvenience" done.....but industrious enough to think of excuses as to why it wasn't.

Oh.

Another thought.

That's the really great thing. These guys did all they did so we can still live where you don't have to play the anthem or any other patriotic song before a sporting event...and if they do play it.....you can kibitz or even talk on your cell phone to the Michigan president.

One could even burn the flag while the song was being played.

None of that is illegal...it's a free country.

Nothing says you have to do it.

Well Morty Moron ,notroious thread hijacker, has said all he is going to say about it.

I don't even have to come back here to listen to these swell songs because I have them in fav places and play them at least once a day.

This odd habit of mine is a great inconvenience to me ,but I do it as self punishment for being a raging idiot..... and I don't like pain.
