if alan garcia is terrible then about 90% of the jocks riding at aqueduct should be put in prison and maybe 10% would be considered good. all jocks give crappy rides at times, but i would say garcia rides his share of some nice priced winners not just favorites that almost any of them can win with

I guess I watched most of this race differently than most. One thing for sure is the fact that Garcia caused his share of problems in this race, including almost taking down the 6 in the first turn.

I have heard or read knocks on just about all the top riders. Jon Court is the rider you never hear about. Always gives his mount a chance. Seldom rides short odds favorite. My opinion he never looses a race but a better horse my beat him.

Speaking of jockeys, did anybody else have the joy of betting on, then witnessing Emishi Warrior in the 8th at Laurel yesterday, when Erik Rodriguez, while in the act of twirling his whip mid stretch, dropped it, then got outfinished (shockingly) while vigorously hand-riding to the wire (beaten by Prado's horse whom they were nice enough to let up the rail).

Default drop whip story

2 quick drop whip stories-- many years ago a jock by the name of gilberto delgado dropped the whip in the stretch on a horse i had to finish up a pick six that would have paid over $40,000--he lost by a nose

a few days ago a horse i own ran at philly park running off a layoff at 35-1,
just as he was about to make his move on the leader the jock (freites) drops the whip and he finishes 2nd

i hope none of us here get many stories like these, lets hope the ones we play against drop that whip

I had the misfortune of watching CD 11/24 R8 at my local OTB and thus was able to also watch the headon replay. This was a case where I'd have welcomed Douglas dropping the whip.
