He would be close its the usual story ,The bigger the fee the better the mares & thus the better the foals, all 3 are Sprinters with early 2 year olds

Just from looking at the racing guides provided to us here in the U.S. for wagering, it just looks like there are a lot of horses with Encosta as the sire.

But you're right, there are a lot of Redoutes as well. Dangerous, Be Esprit, Tessa Rossa, Terrific, and Hurricane Sky seem to be other major players you see a lot of.

What I notice, is as far as the American handle goes, we'll bet sires we reckognize. You'll see Rock of Gibraltor, Tale of the Cat (Storm Cat), Distorted Humor, and others with reckognizeable names from time to time.

The long and the short of it, with the huge fields, I'm addicted to it. I thinking it would do a lot better in the U.S. if it were in the Daily Racing Form though. Handle would rise huge if they could work an agreement for that.

There might be a Might and Power video or two.

I started following Aussie racing in late 2001, but didn't start watching it until 2002. I missed a "Golden Era" by joining in after Sunline and Northerly's runs as top horses ended. Sunline ran real "lung busters" on the engine; she is a beloved mare and was the top earner until Makybe Diva came along. In 2004-2005, at least half of the top races that I saw included The Diva.

Northerly is a West Australian icon, and ran a lot of his races near the front. Lonhro was Sydney-based, and the Northerly backers love to take pot shots at him for not winning the Cox Plate; his best work was done in New South Wales. He was a wonderful horse, though.

As for the wagering, I LOVE the boxcar payoffs. When you're sitting on a triple that, after looking at the payoff, you figure that maybe a handful of guys -- less than five -- have it, it's a great feeling.

Enjoy the racing.
Thanks for the recommendations. I have no doubt that top-level Aussie racing can run with anywhere else in the world. But yeah, I'm just in it for the huge fields, no matter what the class level. As far as U.S. racing goes, I know I'm in the minority on this, but I love crap claiming races. The famous 5kN2l At Mountaineer lol. So just gimme a race with large competitive fields, regardless of class, and I'm hooked.

Ill take Alinghi over Miss Finland any day. Definately in the minority when i say i dislike the mare, for me shes too up and down in form.
Redoutes definately sires the most wich can go the longer distances, but Encosta the better sprinter.
But id take a Rock Of G horse over both of them anyday. Cant half tell where my aliance lies

Oh, also for those who dont know, a furlong is equal roughly to 200m. So a 1600m race is a mile, and also known as 8 furlongs.

A straight six, is 1200m down a straight like Flemington.

Yes true, but at least Alinghi was consistent.
