Hooray! ArlJim78 liked "Very Bad Things" too! I knew I wasn't alone! I thought it was hee-larious and by far the best thing Cameron Diaz has ever done.
Too late now I know but Serenity was a wonderful movie...to really appreciate it, you had to see the series (Firefly) first but Joss did a wonderful job with the background info so all you miss is the deeper understanding of the characters...Summer Glau is wonderful as the psychotic death machine, River Tam...boy can she slash and chop! Summer was a prima ballerina prior to turning to acting and her fight scenes show that skill!

I watched it with 3 people and they all did not like it, so I figured lots of people did not like it, maybe I was wrong. The were all like what the hell?

Thanks Pointg5 and Irishtrekker. I saw your comments about Donnie Darko and later noticed it was coming on so I checked it out. I loved it and can't wait to see it again sometime. I knew it would be good right from the opening segment when they used as part of the soundtrack a song from my alltime favorite group Echo and the Bunneymen. I guess I must also be weird.

If you enjoyed Donnie Darko (I also am a fan), you might want to check out Southland Tales...written and directed by Richard Kelly (he of course the writer/director of Donnie Darko as well as Domino). Southland Tales is ambitious to say the least, should be out this fall or earlier, it has an extensive website with prequels etc. at:
http://www.southlandtales.com/
Even got a puzzle to put together on line as well as separate web sites for the main characters. I became interested because of the cast...much of Sat Nite Live plus the Rock and my girl...Sarah Michelle Gellar playing a porn star!!!

He sure seems like one to keep an eye on, I was really impressed with what he did on DD. The Southland Tales site looked very intriguing. I wonder why the SNL cast would be involved?

I understand it is basically a comedy despite the look of it!

Falling Down w/Michael Douglas & Robert Duvall. Seems like nobody saw it, and those that did don't really remember it. I thought it was a good one.

I highly recommend Mothman Prophecies, I haven't seen it in a couple of years, may have to go buy it on DVD, I loved that movie, the Indrid Cold scene is just freaky...

But she is hot imo.

Raising Arizona gets the most out loud laughs out of me than any other movie. A lot of my friends hate it with a passion.

Oh my God, there are people out there who hate "Raising Arizona"???? That's positively un-American. Why do they hate our freedom??????

Hee hee hee. I LOVE that movie. I love Nic Cage so much more in comedy than drama.

I thought "Minority Report" with Tom Cruise was incredible. My wife just laughs at me...

Right, my bad, that was Igby Goes Down. Anyone seen that? Kind of an off beat one. Pretty good.

Default Serenity

It wasn't my cup of tea and probably means a lot more to people that watched the series. Personally I had never heard of it before, the series or the movie. It was somewhat inventive but what I'll remember most is that the crew on Mal's ship were so good looking and have such great hair, which I think is no small feat when you're winging across the galaxy fighting a war.

Another observation about sci-fi in general, why do they always end up relying on people fighting each other in a hand to hand manner like with swords, judo, light sabers, etc? No matter how advanced humankind gets future wars always seem to end up with two guys having a well choreographed judo style fight. What's up with that? Wars aren't fought that way now much less in the future. Imagine if the battle of Baghdad boiled down to Rumsfeld (Yoda) and Hussien (Count Dooku) duking it out with swords in one of Saddams palaces.
